Welcome at the chair NTFD
The research focus of the professorship numerical thermo fluid dynamics is the numerical simulation of high-temperature conversion processes using sophisticated models combined with 3D CFD. The group is responsible for the integrated process simulation and virtualisation within the framework of the Virtuhcon centre (www.virtuhcon.de). The integration in the department of Energy Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering (IEC) as well as the close collaboration with 7 additional departments (INEMET, IEST, IFI, IMFD, INMO, IWTT, IWW) at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg provides an excellent environment and availability of experimental data for model validation.
The new models are used in Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) simulations of gasification and combustion processes.

Within the scope of the NTFD-seminar current research themes will be presented. The series of lectures will begin on 03.03.2014 at 10:00 in room DBI 304 and will proceed biweekly. The topics are available under following link PDF.

Sebastian Popp, M.Sc. joined the Chair of Numerical Thermo-Fluid Dynamics at 02/03/14. In his research, he will perform Large Eddy Simulations (LES) for combustion of hydrogen, mixtures of hydrogen and natural gas and also syngases.
