The German Research Foundation (DFG) requires its member institutions to appoint a person to act as the “Ombudsperson of the DFG”.This is the person who can be contacted by scientists in all matters relating to research proposals to the DFG. His/her tasks comprise:
- Information on the various funding opportunities and schemes of DFG,
- Advice for applicants, in particular first-time applicants,
- Support in cases of doubt concerning proposals or the processing of proposals by the DFG experts
- Advice and counselling on the procedures of the DFG following a decision of a DFG-body
The DFG-Ombudsperson in the university acts as the link between the university’s scientists (especially first-time applicants) and the German Research Foundation. He/she is in good and regular contact with the DFG and informs the university’s scientists on funding procedures, new funding opportunities, conditions and current developments.
