TU Bergakademie Freiberg intensifies contacts to Spain

With signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the University Camilo José Cela (UCJC) today in Madrid TU Freiberg strengthens its international networks. The signed agreement fosters academic exchange as well as an increased cooperation regarding research and education.

„The MoU signed today generates a basis for a lasting and trustful cooperation between both our universities. For TU Bergakademie Freiberg the linkage especially to universities in Spain, France and Italy is another important step in our strategic approach of internationalisation.” as rector Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht explained. He has been involved with UCJC as member of the International Advisory since 2015. Having complementary fields of competence UCJC and TU Bergakademie Freiberg are ideal partners for interdisciplinary research activities e.g. for the sustainable development of regions and industrial systems.

From beside TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Prof. Helmuth Albrecht, director of the institute of industrial archeology is one of the first scientists to cooperate in joint research activities together with UCJC. Since the end of last year, he works together with Prof. Dr. Samuel Martín-Barbero, rector of UCJC and member of the faculty of architecture and technology, on the topic of urban development in connection with industrial archeology. 

The Universidad Camilo José Cela is a private university located in Madrid. It was founded in the year 2000 as part of the international education network SEK and bears the name of the Spanish writer and winner of the Wiritng Nobel Price Camilo José Cela. In ist central campus in the heart of Madrid it combines five faculties, dedicated to health, communication and media studies, education, architecture and technology as well as law and economics.
