Literature search

To search relevant information for teaching and research at the University, the Library offers numerous possibilities. You can get access to media both printed or in electronic form.

The choice of a suitable search tool depends on the information required. For example, when looking for loanable textbooks or locally accessible online sources, the Catalog of the University Library is to be recommended.

Subject-specific information, such as Journal articles can be searched in specialized databases. The ZDB (database for serial titles) contains records of printed and electronic journals held in 4.400 German and Austrian libraries.

To get further information on the search and selection of the appropriate search tools, please contact your subject specialist or use our tutorial on information literacy.

Full texts of electronic resources

Our Catalog gives access to about 46 million electronic items (as of 12/23/2015). The free offers are available from anywhere. Full texts from licensed sources are available on the public computers in the library without additional registration.

Students and staff of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg can use the full texts from the licensed sources also from outside the library. For this, you need to install a VPN connection, or get access via Shibboleth that many database providers enable.
